When you first join Second Life, you will be asked to choose an avatar from the selections shown above. These are generic, cyber beings and you will not be required to look like this forever. Thank goodness!!! Joining Second Life is free, so there is no need to spend one penny, which means that you can join and explore the world of Second Life, and if you decide you do not like the website, you simply leave. There is no need to unsubscribe.

After

If you decide to continue playing on Second Life, you can buy a whole new shape and look, or you can come to our castle, "Castillo del Corazón", and get a new look for FREE. Meet Lovie Wonder! She is one of our clones. We sculpt faces for avatars. We can even sculpt your face for your avatar, if you like. Lovie is one of several choices you can have to clone your new avatar. It only takes about ten minutes to get a completely new look.

There are other avatars you can buy that are somewhat unusual. For instance, you could be an astronaut, an angel, a droid, an animal, or other cyber beings. You can be just about anything you want to be.

Satra Rhode, Sovereign of Maeve

Hello...I am Satra Rhode, Sovereign of Maeve. That sounds very important yes?

I initially came to Second Life in July 2007...as I explored all the beautiful wonders, I realized that all of this was created by the people here just like me. I thought "how wonderful" to create something here in Second Life that is in my head!...So...I set out to learn as much as I could...I rented my first house...it was a cave home in a beautiful sim that is not there anymore...:(...but I have many pictures. Then I found what is called a Sandbox where budding builders could go to make things...houses, cars, castles (that was my interest)....I learned prim by prim how to build castles and it was so much fun I cannot express it fully. When I learned that you could own land here, I set out to buy my first sim (an island) later in 2007. I was estatic and overwhelmed at same time...by that time, I had developed some friends who are still very dear to me today who helped to pull me out of the clouds and discuss all the possibilities for this land...The first thing I built in my sim was the Firepit...hihihi....and there will always be the Firepit in Maeve...This is where my friends and I gathered to celebrate Maeve. I gave myself the title of Sovereign and some of my closest friends who help me with Maeve have titles also. I set up some of my castles that I had built for rent and tenants came...I set a Market in the sky where I could sell my castles and customers came. And today I still build and have grown so much but still learn every day something new. In my real life, I enjoy creating things...but you do not have to be creative with things to enjoy Second Life...You could simply be an explorer...or if you have a good imagination, you could be a role player. There are many roles in Second Life and special sims you can play these roles in. You could own a sim and set it up specifically for role playing....like medevil, elfin, scifi, bondage, vampire...I would run out of room here if I went on...I chose to create the castles for people to role play in...and essentially, I am a role player also...as I am Sovereign of Maeve....smiles...

There are many skills you can learn here in Second Life and classes you can take....you could be a sculptor, a scripter (scripts make things happen!!)...You could be an avatar creator...a clothing creator....we love our beautiful clothing in Second Life!!!...OOO you could be a weapons creator...There are special sims where you can do battle with others....hahah I am best as a target I learned...but still it is fun!!!

When you logon to Second Life you can visit and talk with Satra Rhode, personally, by teleporting to location -- Maeve (64, 169, 551)

How real can it get?

I would really like to know. When you first looked at this picture, did you think it was a real person? This is Yole Charisma, Lady of the castle, "Castillo del Corazón". Yole is my avatar, just as Rocky is my avatar.

My sister and I sculpt avatar faces and bodies to make them look as real as possible, and not like a cyber being. When you come to our castle we have clones of our sculpts that you can have for free. This is just one of the things we do to help new people get situated in Second Life.

We also show you how to get around SL without spending any money. Joining SL is free and it is entirely possible to play on SL indefinitely without spending a penny.

Cyber beings called avatars.

Rocky Greymyst is Lord of "Castillo del Corazón", which means "Castle of the Heart". Lord Greymyst is the brother of Yole Charisma, Lady of the castle, her protector and the protector of all Ladies in the castle. His protection is real. He can eject, or ban an undesirable avatar from the island with a click of the mouse.

When you enter Second Life, SL for short, you will be given the opportunity to choose an avatar. It will be a generic and rather plain looking cyber being, but you will be able to change the appearance later. Sometimes you can get so wrapped up in role playing it becomes easy to forget that the avatar your avatar is talking to has a real person behind it, just as Rocky Greymyst is me and your avatar will be you. One of the most entertaining things about all of this is that, through your avatar, you can be anything, or anyone you want to be. Some people even buy avatars that are robots, or cats, etc.

Second Life has the best technology in virtual reality for creating very realistic avatars. They blink, breath, smile, and have movement that is so fluid that they can actually ballet. That, in itself, is a great reason to take a look at the website. Besides, it's FREE!!!

Second Life is the most advanced virtual world online today. You can do practically anything here that you can do in real life, and some things you can't do in real life, like flying. There are an incredible number of things to do in Second Life, but there are also many things you need to learn in order to enjoy "Your second life". You do not need to learn all of it at once, but it helps greatly if you have a certain amount of knowledge when you start. We are going to prepare you to enter your second life. You will receive all of the basic knowledge you need to get your full enjoyment right from the first moment you enter this new world.
 
Joining Second Life is free. Entering this world is like getting off a train in a new city with no hotel reservation. You will not know anyone and you will not have a place to call home.
